Big boiling pot
I’ve no idea what this is really - looks like a big vat for mixing chemicals maybe?

Have you heard "SuperCollider" by 'The Fountains of Wayne' - There's a great lyric in it which goes - "Gather round the gas tower, don't it kinda look like a bong? I heard it backwards, hidden in a Pink Floyd song" - seems rather apt for this I thought.
