I’m pleased to announce the 5th GeekUp Leeds! We can’t quite promise the same entertainment as last month’s, but the line-up is looking pretty good so far.
Rahoul Baruah (aka Baz) will be giving us a 20:20 on “Why Rails programmers are so smug” - an outline of his favourite features of both Ruby and Rails, and how they can help you build web applications quickly and easily.
There’s still one scheduled 20:20 slot free so do get in touch if there’s something you’d like to get off your chest…
In true tradition we will also honour our turn-up-on-the-night-with-a-20:20-slot, where it’s left up to the GeekUp crowd to decide on the night who gets to talk. The 20:20 format is outlined on the GeekUp wiki but it’s essentially 20 slides, with 20 seconds per slide.
Do tell us if you’re coming
Details:
* When: 6:00 PM Wednesday 17th October, 2007 (Talks start at 7:00PM)
* Where: The Lounge, St. Johns House, Merrion St, Leeds LS2 8JE

Last month, we were fortunate enough to have 3 fabulous speakers. First up was Tim with his snappy review of the Leeds Open Street Map mapping party, it was great to see how the Leeds coverage progressed in the space of a weekend. Thanks also to Phil for his MIX mastication - with bonus points for added props & heckling! James Holden filled our turn-up-on-the-night-with-a-20:20 slot, where he told us all about how interactive text messaging works and how you can use it in your own projects, so big thanks to him.
